Follow the steps below to try and ensure a virtually painless splinter removal:

1)     Mix a little sugar and lathered soap in a bowl to make a paste.

2)     Apply the paste to the area of the splinter.

3)     Cover the area with a plaster and leave overnight - this will help to draw the splinter to the surface.

4)     The next day, remove the plaster and pick out the splinter using a sterile needle.
